The Story
Growing up in Grand Falls/Grand-Sault, New Brunswick, Hélène learned early that progress comes from discipline, trust, and teamwork. Competing in synchronized figure skating internationally shaped the calm-under-pressure mindset she now brings to clinicians who want to lead better conversations without carrying the whole outcome alone.
Over 24+ years as a practicing occupational therapist, she saw the same pattern repeat: smart, deeply caring clinicians working harder and harder to fix problems for people instead of partnering with them to create change. That recognition of The Expert Trap did not come from theory. It came from practice.
In 2019, she created Dive Into a Coach Approach® to give clinicians a practical way to shift from fixer to partner. The mission is direct: train 150,000 clinicians by 2030 so more patients experience care that builds ownership, follow-through, and sustainable outcomes.
Since 2016, Hélène has served as a Clinical Instructor at UBC, where she teaches the Coach Approach seminar to graduating therapists. The method is now carried not only into continuing education, but into the next generation of clinical practice.
At home in British Columbia, she is skiing with her husband and two kids, playing beach volleyball, and living the bilingual life in French and English. That same grounded, human energy is what makes A Coach Approach feel usable in real clinical rooms—not just inspiring in theory.
